Each piece is bench made by artisans using time honored techniques and the highest quality material available. Every piece of upholstery starts with environmentally sustainable hardwoods including poplar, acacia, and beech combined with plywood made from premium hardwoods. The joints are double doweled and blocked on each corner or feature precise mortise and tenon construction. JR Signature Upholstery uses heavy duty sinuous springs which are reinforced by horizontal metal tie rods that inhibit shifting and sagging. The springs are secured to the frame using padded clips and fasteners for reinforcement and durability. We have selected this premium spring system because it not only gives superior comfort and longevity to a sofa or chair, but also offers design flexibility that ranges from high legged modern styles to traditional skirted and plinth bases. Our loose seat cushions are made from high resiliency polyurethane foam that is encased in a quilted envelope filled with a feather blend and made from tight weave cotton ticking material. The envelope is channeled both horizontally and vertically to prevent the feathers from shifting, providing long lasting, luxurious, low maintenance comfort. Tight and tufted seats are made from high resiliency polyurethane foam topped with layers of fiber for softness and comfort. Back cushions are filled with a feather blend and are channeled horizontally to provide support and prevent shifting. Accent pillows are filled with a luxurious blend of 95% feathers and 5% down. Upholstery: Standard Care Procedures To prolong the beauty of your John-Richard upholstered furniture, please follow these simple care procedures: Rotate Seat Cushions – Turn, fluff and rotate seat cushions on a regular basis. This will minimize premature wear of the cushion core, control welt slippage and maintain even fabric color. Remove Dust – Dust is constantly settling on all surfaces in a home, including the upholstery. Remove dust regularly to prevent soil and abrasion. We recommend a residential vacuum cleaner fitted with an upholstery tool attachment. Do Not Clean Cushion Covers Separately – Even though they have zippers, the cushion covers are designed to be cleaned in the same manner as the rest of the upholstery. Clean Spills Immediately - Blot (do not rub) all spills immediately with a clean white cloth. Follow the cleaning procedure as recommended by the specific cleaning code. Please refer to our fabric list for the cleaning code of each fabric. The cleaning codes are set by the fabric manufacturers. John-Richard makes no independent cleaning evaluation or recommendation. Additionally, there are many fabric treatments that are being applied after the furniture has been manufactured. We do not recommend these treatments and our fabric suppliers will deny any responsibility for a fabric when a third-party stain protection has been added. Code S: To prevent overall soil, frequent vacuuming, or light brushing to remove dust and grime is recommended. Spot clean, using a mild water free solvent or dry-cleaning product. Clean only in a well ventilated room and avoid any product containing Carbon Tetrachloride or other toxic materials. Pretest a small area before proceeding.
